Join us to watch A Land Out of Time! |
Time is running out for vast swaths of the Rocky Mountain West as the Bush/Cheney Administration promotes the biggest public land grab in American history.
A new documentary, A Land out of Time tells how the oil and gas industry has already leased more than 35 million acres of federal land--an area greater than 15 Yellowstones--and industry is moving aggressively to lease millions more before the end of Bush's term. Over a hundred thousand oil and gas wells have already been drilled from Montana to New Mexico, and plans are underway to drill another hundred thousand.
The drilling blitz threatens some of America's last, best wild lands: Wyoming's Red Desert, Montana's Rocky Mountain Front, Colorado's Roan Plateau, Utah's canyon country & New Mexico's Valle Vidal & Otero Mesa Westerners on the land for generations illustrate the dramatic changes to the landscape and foment a backlash. The film asks: "Just who is in charge of our public lands, the American people or the oil & gas industry?"
Produced & Directed by Mark Harvey (winner, National Outdoor Book Award and Aspen ShortsFest). Written by Laurel Garrett and Mark Harvey, based on a treatment by Timothy Egan (Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist for the New York Times). Three-time national Emmy winner Greg Poschman is Director of Photography. |
